Victor Osimhen’s Perfect Response To Napoli

Victor Osimhen’s goal for Nigeria against Benin Republic in Uyo was the perfect response to Napoli, whom he felt had betrayed his trust.

After a tumultuous transfer window, Osimhen’s future was uncertain, but his class on the pitch remains undeniable.

The African Player of the Year’s volleyed goal in the 78th minute, just six minutes after coming on as a substitute, showcased his exceptional skill and dedication to his craft.

This strike was a testament to his resilience and determination, proving that form may be temporary, but class is indeed permanent.

Incredible accomplishments have marked Osimhen’s journey with Napoli, including becoming the first African player to win the Serie A Golden Boot in the 2022/23 season.

However, the relationship between Osimhen and Napoli deteriorated due to a series of events, including a racist video mocking him and the club’s demands during transfer negotiations.

Osimhen was heavily linked to top European clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG, as well as Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli, who offered a lucrative package.

However, Napoli’s actions scuttled his move to Al Ahli, causing a complete breakdown in their relationship.

Osimhen had agreed to a €160m contract with Al Ahli, but Napoli’s demand for an additional €5m on top of the €80m offered by the Saudi Pro League side led to the transfer stalling, and Al Ahli ultimately walked away.

The striker’s proposed moves to PSG and Chelsea also fell through due to Napoli’s demands and disagreements over personal terms.

Despite their lowball offer to Osimhen, Chelsea reportedly had an understanding with Napoli.

It was said to be €4m as an initial annual salary, 10% of Al-Ahli’s proposal, but doubled if the Blues were to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Even that inflated amount is still less than his current market value, a huge disrespect from the London club to the golden boy of African football.

The transfer saga goes against what Osimhen himself expected of the summer 2024 window. In January, he told CBS Sports Golazo that he was ready to take the “next step” of his career.

Osimhen ultimately made a surprise move to Galatasaray in Turkey, a decision that may raise eyebrows but demonstrates his desire for a fresh start.

Osimhen’s goal in Uyo was a statement to Napoli and the world, reaffirming his status as one of the top strikers in the game.

His response to the drama and uncertainty surrounding his transfer is a testament to his character and dedication to his craft.

As he continues to shine on the international stage, Osimhen remains a force to be reckoned with, and his class will undoubtedly be on display for years to come.
