Nigerian singer Teni, known for her charismatic personality and hit tracks, recently took to social media to humorously critique the peaceful dynamics among female musicians in the Nigerian music industry.
The multi-talented artiste shared a video on Instagram, calling out the lack of drama and playful rivalries that often define the male-dominated side of the industry.
With her signature wit, Teni expressed how the relative calm among female singers might be dulling the excitement for fans.
She light-heartedly urged her fellow female artists to inject a bit of spice into their interactions, mirroring the kind of high-energy feuds and competitive banter often seen among male musicians.
“I have said it before, and I will say it again. This female industry is too boring; it’s too boring!” Teni exclaimed with a chuckle.
She playfully imagined a scenario where top female stars like Tems and Ayra Starr could engage in friendly back-and-forths, teasing each other with banter.
“Tell me why Tems and Ayra Starr no fit see themselves and tell themselves, ‘Your papa, your papa papa.'”
Continuing her jest, Teni envisioned herself squaring off with fellow artist Yemi Alade or even having a humorous exchange with Tiwa Savage.
“Shey we don’t see what’s going on on the other side, everybody is just here doing love,” she quipped.
“Sometimes e be like say make I just give Yemi Alade headbutt. Make we see ourselves for outside, make security separate us.”
Teni’s playful commentary didn’t stop there, suggesting that even after a mock confrontation, collaboration among female artists could still thrive.
“Fighting does not mean that we won’t collaborate later,” she said, highlighting how a little drama could add an entertaining edge to the industry.
“Let’s give them drama, proper action film.”
