A suicide attack at a wedding in Gwoza, a town in Borno State, by a female with a baby strapped to her back has sent an unknown number of people to the great beyond.

The female suicide bomber stormed the wedding venue at Tashan Mararaba, near the fire service in Gwoza town, where she promptly detonated the IED she used to carry out the attack.

Report said the wedding guests were among the dead, while many others sustained injuries in the attack.

The incident’s details are still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, but a source said it happened around 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29.

A survivor reportedly claimed that the female suicide bomber was carrying a baby on her back when she stormed the wedding venue and detonated the bomb.

“The number of dead persons is yet to be ascertained, but several of the injured persons are receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Gwoza, including this source.

“Security agencies are also yet to comment on the incident as of now,” a witness said.
