Binance Executive Gambaryan has access to quality medical care, Nigerian Govt. tells US Congressmen

The Nigerian Government has refuted allegations that Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan is being held in deplorable or inhumane prison conditions, stating that he is receiving proper care and treatment in detention.

The government affirmed that Gambaryan’s detention is in accordance with legal procedures and that he is receiving adequate medical attention at a suitable healthcare facility, ensuring his well-being during his custody.

Persecondnews recalls that Rep. French Hill and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, on Wednesday conducted a prison visit to see Tigran Gambaryan at Kuje Prison in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, where they assessed his condition and showed their support.

On Thursday, the two US Congress members expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of Gambaryan and urged his immediate release on humanitarian grounds, citing the need for urgent medical attention and proper care.

Arkansas Republican Hill, through his X account, said, “We found him suffering from the conditions there, as he has malaria and double pneumonia, and he reports that he has lost significant weight.”

According to Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Gambaryan not only receives quality medical care but also has access to consular services from his home country’s diplomatic mission, ensuring he receives appropriate support and assistance during his detention.

A statement by Idris reads: “It has become necessary for the Federal Government of Nigeria to address claims that Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan is being held in unsavoury prison conditions in Nigeria or that his health is deteriorating.

“We would like to state that these allegations are false and should be ignored.

“Gambaryan is being held in lawful detention and has access to quality medical care whenever required.

“He also has full access to consular services from his home government.

“The Federal Government will not do anything to jeopardize his fundamental rights to a lawful trial and to quality care, including healthcare, even as he undergoes trial under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“It is worth reiterating that his detention is a court-ordered one, and only the court can alter the terms or direct his release.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria will continue to follow due process in its quest to bring Binance to justice — a legitimate sovereign quest that is similarly being pursued in several other countries around the world.

“This adherence to legal and diplomatic standards underscores Nigeria’s dedication to upholding justice and maintaining the integrity of its judicial processes.

“The executive is being treated with the utmost fairness, and his legal and human rights are being protected throughout the judicial proceedings.”
