A Nigerian pilgrim from the Kwara State contingent, Hajia Hawawu Mohammed, has committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop in Madina, Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed the tragic incident on Sunday, according to Persecondnews.

Mohammed, who is from Kwara State, was confirmed dead by the Saudi authorities, with the pilgrim authority describing her death as “suicidal.”

The Kwara State Board also confirmed the death of another state pilgrim, Mr. Saliu Mohammed.

Mohammed, a member of the Batch 3 contingent from Kwara State, died in the intensive care unit of a public hospital in Madina.

The pilgrims’ board stated: “It deeply regrets these sad events but submits totally to the decree and ultimate knowledge of Allah in all affairs.”

Additionally, the Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board announced the death of another pilgrim in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

According to a statement by Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi Governor, the deceased’s name is Abubakar Abdullahi from Gulma town in Argungu Local Government Area.

The statement said that the pilgrim died after a brief illness.

Abdullahi is the third Kebbi pilgrim to die in the Holy Land.

According to the statement, Gov. Nasir Idris expressed shock over the death and prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest.

The governor also urged the immediate family of the deceased, friends, and Kebbi pilgrims to take heart and accept the will of God in good faith.
