Ahead of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance week, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday approved N18 billion for Group life assurance benefits and other entitlements for families of fallen heroes of the nation’s Armed forces.

He also launched a fund for the emblem for the 2024 remembrance.

Tinubu spoke at the launch of the emblem appeal fund for the 2024 Armed forces remembrance day at the State House, Abuja.

The President, who was full of praises for the Nigerian armed forces for their dedication to securing the nation, said the emblem remains a symbol of remembrance and a beacon of hope for a peaceful future.

His administration, he said, will continue to support the Armed forces by repositioning them.

Tinubu, however, reminded them of their primary duty of providing a safe and secure environment, free from threats and criminal activities where the people can flourish and live in peace.

“Our foremost objective is to provide a conducive environment free from threats and criminality to enable all who reside within our borders to thrive and live in peace.

“For this reason, we owe a debt of gratitude to our gallant troops who have risen to the challenge of securing this great nation. It is also our humble way of appreciating the veterans and the families of their fallen colleagues,

“I wish to call on all Nigerians and non-Nigerians residing in the country, irrespective of their political affiliation or religious beliefs, to adorn the emblem with pride and identify with those who laid down their lives for the peace and security of our dear nation,” the president said.
