President Bola Tinubu on Friday confirmed the appointment of the Acting Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

A government statement obtained by Persecondnews said Adeniyi’s appointment as the substantive Controller-General took effect from Thursday, October 19, 2023.

“His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the confirmation of the appointment of Adewale Adeniyi (MFR) as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service.

“The appointment takes effect from 19th October, 2023 and his tenure is in accordance with the extant provisions of the Public Service Rules (PSR).

“The President tasks him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment,” the statement signed by Willie Bassey, the Director, Information, office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said.

Persecondnews recalls that on June 26, 2023, Adeniyi was appointed Acting CG by Tinubu.

He took over from retired Col. Hameed Ali, the immediate ex-comptroller-general of customs, appointed by immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, in 2015 and served in that capacity for eight solid years.
