The Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr Mele Kolo Kyari, said on Monday that Nigeria is ready to become a net exporter of petroleum products in 2024.

Kyari said this while delivering a keynote address at the ongoing Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) Energy and labour summit in Abuja.

In line with the Presidential objective of delivering immediate benefits of sufficient in-country volumes while creating export revenue, Kyari disclosed the Nigeria is ready ” to become a net exporter of petroleum products in 2024, and this is within sight.”

He called for the deployment of an inclusive and just energy transition in such a way that resource-dependent countries like Nigeria can be protected and enabled to make use of their resources of today to build the infrastructure of tomorrow and to create shared prosperity.

The NNPCL GCEO also said the Federal Government’s intervention in the transport sector through the use of CNG buses to cushion the effects of subsidy removal is in line with President Tinubu’s mandate in reducing greenhouse gas emission.

CNG is natural gas in a compressed form. It becomes lighter than air after the compression, usually about one per cent of its original volume.

CNG is safe and clean, given its non-toxic and non-corrosive nature. It is also tasteless, colourless and odourless.
