Breaking: Tinubu to Senate: Confirm Umahi, Edun, El-rufai, 11 others as ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm some of his ministerial nominees ahead of their screening today.

The ministerial nominees include ex-governors Nasir El-rufai (Kaduna) and David Umahi (Ebonyi); Presidential spokesman, Dele Alake, Wale Edun, Stella Okotete, Dr. Doris Uzoka, Arc. Musa Ahmed Dangiwa and Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji.

Others are Adebayo Adelabu, Muhammad Idris, Ali Pate, Doris Uzoka, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Barr. Hannatu Musawa and Mr Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

Persecondnews reports that the Senate had on Monday, July 31 commenced the screening of the 28 ministerial nominees forwarded to it by Tinubu last week.

14 out of the 28 ministerial nominees were screened by the Senate at a session presided over by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Monday.

They screened nominees are Abubakar Kyari (Borno), Abubakar Momoh (Edo), former governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers), John Enoh (Cross River), former governor Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Bauchi) and Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Abia).

Others were Bello Muhammad (Sokoto), Prof Joseph Utsev (Benue), Senator Abubakar Danladi (Taraba), Barr. Uju-Ken Ohaneye (Anambra), Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Ondo), Betta Edu (Cross River) and Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa).

While some of the nominees had easy passage and were asked to take a ‘bow and go’ without much questioning, others, however, were questioned by the senators.
