President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that any Iranian funds unfrozen via sanctions relief would enter a US-controlled escrow account for buying American food and medical supplies to address a humanitarian crisis, following a Middle East war-ending deal.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump outlined that any money or sanctions relief released by the US Treasury would be deposited into an escrow account under American control.

He specified that the funds could only be used to buy food and medical supplies from the United States, such as corn, wheat, and soybeans from American farmers.

Describing the situation as a humanitarian crisis, Trump stressed the need to act immediately before it worsens.

The announcement comes in the wake of a recently signed agreement between Washington and Tehran aimed at bringing an end to the war in the Middle East.

Both sides are now engaged in further talks on critical issues, including the future direction of Iran’s nuclear program, to secure a durable peace.

Under the terms of the deal, Iran is expected to receive sanctions relief from the United States along with the release of previously frozen assets.

On Monday, the US Treasury Department announced a temporary suspension of certain sanctions on Iran.

This move permits Tehran to produce, sell, and deliver crude oil and related products until August 21 while negotiations continue.
