…Tiwa, Tems, Simi, Ayra Star battle for Female Artiste of the Year

The newly released nominees for 2023 Headies Awards has sparked reactions on social media platforms as many followers of the coveted award have begun to share their thoughts.

It is the 16th edition of the awards and controversy has begun to rock the music scene as battle for each category hots up.

As soon as the nominees for different categories dropped online, camps of the artistes and their followers began to draw attention to their favourite artistes, who have ruled the music scene with their songs in the last one year.

In the Album of the Year category, which is believed to be the toughest, Burna Boy’s Love Damini; Davido’s Timeless; Asake’s Mr Money; Rema’s Rave and Roses; Omah Lay’s Boy Alone and Victony’s Outlaw are slugging it out.

With fans divided about the choice of the organisers to include Davido’s “Timeless” which was released under the year in review and Seyi Vibez’s ñame not included, it appears this year’s event will throw up another round of controversy.

Some people are also saying the award this year is about battle of the old and new cats but they labelled as a joke the decision of the Headies to remove Seyi Vibez Billion Dollar Baby album from the list.

Tiwa Savage, Simi, Tems, Ayra Star battle for Best Female Artiste
Another contentious category is the Best Female Artiste of the year with Tiwa Savage being the favourite to clinch it due to what us believed to be a big year for the mother of one.

She has released a couple of songs in the year under review including Stamina, her collaboration with Spyro on the hit single, Who Is Your Guy may yet be the reason she’s the favourite.

While Simi has had a quiet year, Ayra Star and her counterpart, Tems have been busy and went on tours with some of their hit songs.

Johnny Drille, Chike, Asake, Praize go head to head in RnB album category
In the RnB category, fans fear Johnny Drille and Chile may take the day as both artistes have had a big year on the music scene. Drille’s Home; Chike’s The Brother’s Keeper; Praize’s Reckless and Waje’s Waje 2.0 are contending songs for the award.
