UK visa ban: Not my intention to cause pain to Nigerians, Tiamiyu apologizes

Nigeria Youtuber, Emdee Tiamiyu, has apologized to Nigerians for any inconvenience or harm he might have caused due to his recent interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on how Nigerians took advantage of the student visa to piggyback relatives to the UK.

Following backlash from Nigerians, Tiamiyu in a video shared on his YouTuber page, disclosed that he was motivated to grant the interview due to the challenges faced by the black community at home and in the UK with no intentions to cause pains to Nigerians.

Persecondnews gathered that the YouTuber entered the UK through the dependent route in September 2022, and with barely a year under his belt, his interview has triggered the UK to place a law to curtail how Nigerians and others studying in the UK from bringing family as dependents.

In 2022, the UK issued over one million various kinds of visa, and since the year 2000 the UK population has risen by 10 million, a major worry for the UK Government that is seeking to curb the number of immigrants coming into the country.

Tiamiyu said: “I am doing this from the reflections and the truthfulness of my heart that you have seen in the interview/ news feature. Please, I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

“If what you have seen being circulated has made you uncomfortable in any way at all, I am sorry, deeply and sincerely sorry.

“And why do I say sorry, because for whatever pain that you feel, I feel even more, because if I meet you in person, if we were able to sit in the same space, probably engage, there is nothing in my heart for you other than love, progress and positive support. People who know me in the world know that this is what I have got.

“There is no other motivation than to grant an interview to speak on the challenges that we genuinely face as a black community back at home and also in the UK.”
