A teenager, Sanchez Tate, 18, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for fatally stabbing 21-year-old Mohamed Abdi Noor in Islington, London.

The incident occurred on December 11, 2023, after an argument escalated into violence. Tate, who was 17 at the time, used a 43.5cm-long sword in the attack.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, the dispute began as a verbal altercation after Mohamed found his motorbike had been knocked over near his home.

Tate was arrested the same evening and charged with murder following Mohamed’s death.

DCI Smith commended the witnesses who intervened during the incident, saying their bravery ensured justice was served.

Mohamed’s family was kept informed and supported by specialist officers throughout the investigation and court proceedings.

Tate was found guilty of murder on October 1 and sentenced at the Old Bailey on November 21.
