In Pres. Buhari’s absence, VP Osinbajo again presides over “extraordinary” FEC meeting

Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s continued stay in UK for medical reasons, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) on Monday presided over an “extraordinary” Federal Executive Council (FEC) in a countdown to the winding down of the administration on May 29.

The FEC meeting which is usually held on Wednesday began at 11.00 am and according to Presidency sources is to enable the outgoing Buhari administration to cover some grounds ahead of the May 29, 2023 handover to a new administration.

The meeting which has in attendance all members of the cabinet is expected to deliberate on about 30 memos from ministries, departments and agencies.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, the National Security Adviser, retired Maj.- Gen. Babagana Monguno, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr (Mrs) Folashade Yemi-Esan and ministers are attendees.

Persecondnews gathered that Buhari, who had stayed back in London at the behest of his doctors over an alleged bad tooth, may return to the country to chair Wednesday’s FEC meeting which may the valedictory session.

He was in London officially about two weeks ago for the coronation of British monarch, King Charles III and has since not returned to Nigeria.
