The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, April 15, 2023 for governorship, National and State Assembly supplementary elections.

Persecondnews reported that Kebbi and Adamawa States governorship elections were declared inconclusive by INEC with supplementary elections scheduled to hold in some polling units in both states.

Announcing this in Abuja on Monday, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the decision to conduct the supplementary polls on April 15 was reached at the commission’s meeting.

“Arising from its meeting held today, the Independent National Electoral Commission has decided that all outstanding governorship, National and State Assembly supplementary elections will take place on Saturday 15th April 2023.

“A detailed official statement will follow shortly.”

Persecondnews recalls that on March 25 INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, had assured protesting women from Adamawa State who were at the commission’s headquarters that a new date for the supplementary election that would be “credible and transparent” would be announced soon.
