Enugu guber result: PDP’s Mbah in narrow margin win of 3,343 votes over LP’s Edeoga

With a narrow margin win of 3,343 votes, Mr Peter Mbah of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Enugu March 18 governorship election.

After the suspension of results collation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which generated tension in the PDP-controlled state, the commission finally named Mbah winner.

Persecondnews reports that virtually all the parties had stepped up agitation for the release of the results of the election conducted five days ago.

According to INEC, Mbah polled 160,895 votes to pip his closest rival, Mr Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, who scored 157,552 votes.

A former Minister of Information and former chieftain of PDP, Dr Frank Nweke, now of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), was able to garner only 17,983 votes to come third while Chief Uchenna Nnaji of All Progressives Congress (APC) got 14,575 to place fourth.

INEC’s Returning Officer for Enugu, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo-Iwe, who is the Vice- Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, declared Mbah winner of the election “having scored majority of the votes and satisfied the requirements of the law.
