The home of Ikenga Ugochinyere, the spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Party (CUPP) at Akokwa, lmo State was on Tuesday attacked for the second time in three weeks.
This is coming barely one week after Ikenga accused the Imo State Government of sponsoring the January 14 bloody attacks on his house.
Persecondnews recalls that four people including his uncle and supporters were killed while vehicles and other valuable properties were destroyed during the January attacks.
He had said: “We were shot at, we were bombed with high grade explosives, houses were leveled with bombs, those still standing were shaken to their foundations and vehicles numbering over 32 were all set ablaze with these explosives.
“Several motorcycles belonging to hardworking villagers were burnt amongst other property valued at over Five Hundred and Fifty Million (N550, 000, 000:00) Naira only was lost in the attacks.
“They attacked in broad daylight, firing from all angles and leaving over 500 bullet holes on the houses in my country home. Innocent people were killed for no reason.”
Ugochinyere, who is also the House of Representatives candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ideato North and Ideato South federal constituency of Imo State in the forthcoming 2023 elections, on Tuesday raised the alarm about the latest attack by the gunmen at his residence, via an SoS message sent out on WhatsApp platform, calling for help.
He wrote: “SOS, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK AGAIN. MY HOUSE IS UNDER ATTACK AGAIN BY ARMED MEN WITH EXPLOSIVES AND HEAVY GUNFIRE.”
Following weeks of mourning from the January attack, Ugochinyere had two days ago announced the resumption of his campaigns for the March 11 election.
