Police burst baby factory in Northern State of Nasarawa

728

In a rare operation, the Nasarawa State Police Command has busted a baby factory at Ado Kasa area of the state with seven people rescued.

In all, six young girls and a six-month-old baby were rescued at St. Bridget Orphanage operated by one Eze Ezeogu Norbert and others, Persecondnews reports.

According to the command’s spokesman, ASP Ramhan Nansel, the successful operation followed a tip-off.

He said police detectives from Area Command New Karu swooped on the illegal orphanage and arrested Ezeogu and other suspects — Nnaemeka Eze, Okechukwu Ogechi and Obiagheli Chidi, all women.

Nansel said the suspects and the victims have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prosecution of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.

Persecondnews gathered that the operators of the orphanage usually abduct underage pregnant girls, hold them hostage till they give birth and sell their children to the highest bidders.

Also, the orphanage operated by Eze Ezeogu Norbert is unregistered.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Miyaki Muhammed Baba has given a stern warning to criminals and those who may be planning acts detrimental to the safety of the state to desist forthwith.

“The Police will mobilize all resources at their disposal to neutralize their  operations.”

He further admonished parents and guardians to be very vigilant and take care of their kids, while also asking the public to continue to avail the Police credible information that will assist in routing out criminals in the state.
