Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike is fighting dirty with his latest decision to revoke the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of a plot at the Golf Course axis of GRA in Port Harcourt allocated to former Senator Lee Maeba, the Chairman of Atiku Campaign Council in Rivers State.

The revocation order, signed by Ochiagha Onyebuchi, the acting Director, Head of Department, Acquisition, Valuation and Compensation, Ministry of Lands and Survey, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, was contained in a letter addressed to Sen. Maeba on November 2, 2022.

No reason was given for the revocation in the letter titled, “Re: Allocation of Plot 20A Golf Course Layout, Old GRA Port Harcourt.”

The letter states: “I am directed to inform you that your allocation at Plot 20A Golf Course Layout, old GRA, Port Harcourt, has been cancelled as shown on the attached Rivers State Official Gazette No. 22 Vol. 58, dated September 20, 2022.

“Please accept the warm regards of the Permanent Secretary.”

Maeba, an ally of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential, PDP, candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is among many of his supporters who are being persecuted by Wike for pitching their tent with Atiku during the June 2022 presidential primary.

Persecondnews recalls that Wike had launched a relentless attack on Atiku and the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, demanding his resignation to pave way for a Southern chairman to emerge.

He insisted he would not work for Atiku until Ayu quits office.

Wike had also openly threatened to deal with those who decide “to align with the outside enemies of the state”, a tacit reference to politicians in the state fraternizing with Atiku.

Among those being victimized by Wike are Dr. Abiye Sekibo, a former Minister of Transportation, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Austin Opara and an ex-governor of the state (now de-recognised), Mr Celestine Omehia.

Omehia has been asked by the state government to refund N600 million and N97 million being salaries and pension he has received.

A petrol station — Mega Tools — belonging to Mr Chinyere Igwe, a serving member of the House of Representatives, was sealed with the allegation that it was involved in illegal oil bunkering activities.

Igwe, however, dismissed the allegation, saying it is a political witch-hunt by the Wike because of his association with Atiku.
