Following the security threat of impending attack at the Nigeria Law School in Bwari, Abuja, the authorities have abandoned the school earlier scheduled for the call to bar of fresh lawyers.

Instead, the event venue was changed to the Secretariat of the Body of Benchers along Abuja airport road.

Persecondnews reports that an announcement to this effect was made in a circular widely circulated on television and radio stations.

The Secretariat of the Body of Benchers is behind the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the Federal Capital Territory.

A circular issued by the school’s Director General, Prof. Hayatu Isa Ciroma, alerted bar candidates of the change of location:

“The Director-General has directed to notify candidates of the change of the Call to the Bar venue from the Nigerian Law School Bwari to the Body of Benchers Secretariat along the Airport Road, Abuja by 1pm tomorrow 27th July, 2022.

“All Aspirants to the Bar are expected to be seated by 9am at the venue.”

Persecondnews reports that the school management had alerted that terrorists dropped a letter indicating an imminent attack on the school.

Some soldiers attached to the Presidential Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army visited the Law School on Sunday for on the spot assessment of the facility but while returning they were ambushed by suspected terrorists.

Two officers — Capt. Samuel and Lt. Jauro and other soldiers were killed in the attack.
