Seven new ministers take oath

Seven ministers who were screened and confirmed by the Senate last week, were on Wednesday in Abeokuta took oath of office.

President Muhammadu Buhari administered the oath at the Presidential Villa before the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The new ministers are Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh (Abia), Umana Okon Umana (Akwa Ibom), Odum Odih (Rivers) and Ademola Adewole Adegoroye (Ondo).

Others are Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub (Kano), Goodluck Nnana Opiah (Imo) and Egwumakama Joseph Nkama (Ebonyi).

The meeting had observed a minute silence in honour of Dr Mohammed Barkindo,  the Secretary-General of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), who passed on at the age of 63 on Tuesday night.

In attendance at the FEC meeting are the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Mr Boss Mustapha and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

Other ministers also in attendance are the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Malam Abubakar Malami, Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, Education Minister, Malam Adamu Adamu, Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, and Mines,  Steel, Mr Olamilekan Adegbite.

Mr Mohammed Abdullahi (Environment), Chief Timipre Sylva (Petroleum Resources),  Mr Clem Agba (Budget, National Planning), and Mrs Maryam Katagun (lndustry Trade and Investment) and the Head of the Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, also attended.
