All airport users especially travelers in Lagos have been advised by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to report at the airport earlier than scheduled on Tuesday, March 22.
According to FAAN, the notification is due to the inauguration of the new lnternational Terminal at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“All travellers and airport users are advised to get to the airport earlier than usual due to heightened security and logistics arrangements on ground,” FAAN said in a statement on Monday.
Persecondnews.com gathered that the new terminal has the capacity to process 14 million passengers per annum, and is built on a landmass of approximately 56,000 square metres, and has 66 check-in counters.
Other facilities in the terminal include five baggage collection carousels, 16 Immigration desks at arrival, 28 Immigration desks at departure, eight security screening points, six-passenger boarding bridges, four premium lounges, and 22 guest rooms and spa.
It also has 16 airline ticketing offices, visa on arrival and port health facility, more than 3,000 square metres of duty-free space, and approximately 5,000 square metres of lettable utility space.
While in Lagos, President Buhari is also expected to inaugurate the Dangote Fertiliser Plant in Lekki, undertake a facility tour of the fertiliser plant.
He will also inspect the 650,000 BPO Oil Refinery and 900,000 TPA Polypropylene Plant and the Lekki Deep Seaport.
