“He is a danger to our children, I have no choice, the defendant is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment”

A horny 29- year-old Pastor, Stephen Kalu, is to spend the rest of his life within the prison walls for violating a 17- year-old girl in Karshi in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The convict had raped the teenage girl on Oct. 28, 2018 at his residence in Karshi, Abuja, reports Persecondnews.

Kalu of the Adoration Ministry, Karshi, was arraigned in court on a two-count charge bordering on rape on 16 Oct. 2019 following his arrest by the police.

The offences contravened Sections 31 (1) and (2) of the Child’s Right Act.

Pronouncing the verdict of guilt on Kalu, Justice Peter Kekemeke of the FCT High Court, Nyanya, sentenced him behind the bars for life.

Kekemeke said Prosecutor Donatus Abah, had proved his case beyond reasonable doubts.

“The defendant admitted that he slept with the girl several times, resulting in a pregnancy and the birth of a baby girl.

“Although, the defendant promised to marry her, the offence had been committed already and the law must take its course,” the judge ruled.

Kekemeke said Count two was not relevant in the case and convicted the defendant on Count one which contravened Section 31 (1)of the Child’s Right Act.

He said:”The defendant is found guilty on count one and accordingly convicted.

”Our society, especially this division of the court, has seen several cases of rape.

“It is a pathetic situation, the system must be expunged of rapists, our children need protection from our courts.
