Less than two weeks after several people perished in an inferno which engulfed multiple articulated vehicles at old Ogere Tollgate on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, five passengers of a bus also died on Thursday in an accident on the well-paved road still under construction.

Several others were also injured and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The accident which occurred about 9.15am near Christopher University just before the Redeemed Christian Church of God camp involved a truck and a passenger bus.

An official of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Olusola Ojuoro, confirmed the five fatalities — three females and two males.

He blamed the crash on dangerous overtaking by one of the vehicles.

The Mowe-lbafo Unit Commander advised said motorists to always exercise patience and desist from wrong overtaking to avoid accidents and unnecessary loss of lives.
