Beleaguered Nigeria: Ex-NNPC boss, Andrew Yakubu, calls for interfaith prayers by Christians, says challenges surmountable

“There is no doubt that we are not in the best of times today; there is no doubt that we do not have challenges but there is no challenge that cannot be surmounted by understanding, dialogue, discussions, mutual discussions, fruitful discussions, said Engr. Andrew Yakubu.

Worried by the escalating insecurity across the country with high fatalities, a former Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Andrew Laah Yakubu, said the nation may have come to its wit’s end and called for inter-faith prayers by Christians to overcome the challenges.

Yakubu made a passionate plea to the body of Christ to commit Nigeria to God daily in prayer for an end to the criminalities and bloodletting, Persecondnews reports.

Calling for a return to the good old days of living together in peace, the ex-NNPC boss expressed the conviction that prayer of faith will dismantle evil forces that have enveloped the country.

“There is no doubt that we are not in the best of times today; there is no doubt that we do not have challenges.

“But there is no challenge that cannot be surmounted by understanding, dialogue, discussions, mutual discussions, fruitful discussions, opening up to ourselves.

“I am happy that the Christian body in Nigeria has imbibed the greatest weapon and that is more powerful than the use of force – that is the power of God,’’ Persecondnews quotes Yakubu as saying while speaking to newsmen.

Still underscoring the power of prayer in the spirit realm, Yakubu, who was appointed in by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said:“Prayer can dismantle the kingdom of darkness, it can dismantle any force and set us free.

“Take for example that area where we have been preaching understanding among the youths and the various communities.

“We have also tried to remind the various communities the good times we had because we all are beneficiaries of living together in peace.

“I think the message is sinking because the challenges are beginning to subside. Of course, in addition to this, there is no day we don’t commit our land to God in prayer.’’

Restating absolute confidence in God for His intervention, Yakubu said the light of God would shatter the cloud of darkness hovering over Nigeria.

“By the grace of God, light, when light sets in, darkness will certainly disappear. So, we have challenges but the challenges are not insurmountable.’’
