The Speaker,  Lagos State House of Assembly,  Mudashiru Obasa, was on Thursday quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of financial recklessness to the tune of N286 million.

Obasa, who arrived the EFCC headquarters, Abuja at 10:00 am, came in company of his lawyers who were restricted to the reception.

Persecondnews also learnt that the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has also invited him for financial impropriety.

Obasa has been under investigation by the anti-graft commission following series of revelation detailing allegations of misappropriation of funds from the coffers of the House, including over bloated expenses.

An online news medium had alleged that Obasa operates over 60 bank accounts and had used his office to misappropriate funds and allocate contracts to himself through third party sources, as well as other acquaintances, releasing some classified documents to back up their report.

It also accused Obasa of spending N258 million  to print invitation cards for the inauguration of the state 9th Assembly.

He approved N80 million as estacode for 20 wives of some lawmakers to travel to Dubai, while his wife collected N10 millon monthly from the House.

Though the Speaker had consistently denied all the allegations but a petition from the Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CISNAC) had nailed Obasa.

In July 2020, the EFCC invited some members of the House and j personal aides to the Speaker for questioning.
