Another fire rocks Lagos, 8 dead, million of naira properties destroyed

Few weeks after experiencing a fatal  lfire incident in Lagos, another fire triggered by gas explosion has rocked the city.

The explosion which occurred in Baruwa area of Alimosho, emanated from a gas station at 5.45 am and was put out at 8.38am by men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.

Persecondnews recalls that another incident occurred in Ifako-Ijaiye area.

 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had announced five casualties in Thursday’s inferno but the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu put it at eight.

“The explosion occurred and the agency activated a response plan. Initial disaster assessment is as follows: casualties still being assessed but eight fatalities have been identified so far.

About 25 houses that are mostly bungalows, 16 lock-up shops and one primary school have has been identified and curtailed. Damping down is ongoing,” he said.

“Post-disaster assessment will be carried out and further updates provided.
It would be recalled that early this year, a deadly fire explotion rocked the FESTAC area of Lagos, Killing many people as well as destroying billions of naira worth of properties.”
