For allegedly deflowering and gang-raped a teenage girl with his sons, an Osun State monarch has been hauled up before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court.

The traditional ruler, Aketewi of Iketewi, 62-year-old David Ogungbemi, was arraigned along with his son, Idowu, and Sarafa Olayiwola for gang-raping a14-year-old girl and impregnating her.

They allegedly conspired and subjected the hapless girl to sexual romps and also exploited her.

The trio is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, rape and sexual exploitation before a Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara.

The “royal father” and others denied the charges.

But Police Prosecutor John Idoko insisted that the accused committed the offences on May 5, 2020, in Ilare-Ijesa.

“The defendants were living in the same house with the girl when they committed the crime,” he told the court.

The offences contravened Sections 31 and 32 of the Child’s Right Act, Laws of the Federation 2004 and Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State 2002.

Counsel to the accused, Messers Yinka Popoola and Tunbosun Oladipupo, applied for bails for them.

Ayilara, remanded the traditional ruler and two others in police custody and adjourned the case until May 18 for ruling on the bail applications.

PerSecondnews recalls that the Oluwo of Iwo in Osun was early in the year arraigned for allegedly physically assaulting a fellow traditional ruler in the state.
