For breaking into Vice-PresIdent Yemi Osinbajo’s motorcade, a 43-year-old truck driver, Abubakar Musa, has been arraigned at a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos.
Despite warnings and resistance from security men, the driver still drove recklessly and caused a security breach by obstructing the motorcade of the Number Two citizen.
The accused drove his truck with registration no. LND 976 XF recklessly on the expressway and obstructed the convoy of the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo.
“The defendant, who refused to adhere to the signals, drove the truck into the convoy and divided it in spite of efforts by the security men to clear the road,” the police told the court.
According to Insp. Samuel Mishozumu, the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 19 at 10. 15 p.m. on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos.


Musa, who resides in Oshodi, is charged with reckless driving and obstruction to which he has pleaded not guilty.
The offences contravened Sections 19(1) and 45 of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State.
The driver was, however, released on bail.
Ruling, Chief Magistrate O. D. Njoku said: “The defendant is hereby granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties.”
The trial has been adjourned until Feb. 19.
