Resign now, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths tell Osinbajo

…Don’t resign, Yoruba elders

In spite of the humiliation and sidelining of the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Yoruba Council of Elders has asked him not to resign.

“The Vice-President should not resign. President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo hold the ticket together.

“Both of them were elected on a joint ticket, so Osinbajo should not resign,” Dr Kunle Olajide, the Secretary-General of the YCE, said.

Recalling Osinbajo’s avowed commitment and loyalty to Buhari, he said the president should “remember Osinbajo’s loyalty to him and refuse to be used by some power against his deputy.’’Olajide hinged the travails of Osinbajo on the 2023 presidential ambition of some of Osinbajo’s persecutors.

“We know like other Nigerians that there are enough signs that some people are working against Osinbajo but who the people are, I don’t know.

“It is obvious that some people are working against him and unfortunately, it appears as if Mr President is dancing to their tune.’’

Still pleading for Osinbajo, Olajide said: “I will urge Mr President to remember the Vice-President’s loyalty to him in the past four years, especially when he was out of the country for three months and refused to allow unguarded ambition to push him.”

He urged Osinbajo to continue to be loyal to his boss and serve the country with patriotic zeal.

“Osinbajo should remain god-fearing and people-centred in his activities and in the end, he will be vindicated.

“No matter the motivation of some 2023 presidential aspirants against him, he should remain steadfast in what he is doing in the past four years that are acceptable to Nigerians and to God,’’ the YCE scribe advised.

Even denial by Osinbajo, the Presidency had confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the sack of some of Osinbajo’s aides, saying “it is part of the ongoing overhauling in the seat of government and to cut costs’’.

On their part, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has asked Osinbajo to quit following the alleged rift between him and Buhari.

Mr Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the President General and Mr Okwu Nnabuike, Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, described Osinbajo as a good man who should toe the path of honour and leave with his integrity intact.
