The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to emulate its planned disclosure of financial records to promote transparency and accountability in party financing.

The party declared that its National Treasurer would present its Statement of Account at the third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026.

“The planned disclosure reflects its commitment to transparency in managing party finances,” the NDC said in a statement emailed to PerSecondNews on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.

According to the party, its finances could have been stronger, however, the inability of about 80 per cent of its candidates to pay for Expression of Interest forms compelled the party to provide them free of charge.

It blamed the candidates’ financial constraints on the poverty, hunger and deprivation in the country.

The meeting will also feature the unveiling of the party’s National Campaign Council (NCC), which will oversee its presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly campaigns.

The party added that its candidates would also be presented with Certificates of Return for their respective offices.
