Ending weeks of intense speculation regarding their political trajectory, Peter Obi, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate and Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, 2023 NNPP presidential candidate have officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The move follows a period of instability within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where both leaders had previously sought refuge.
The political heavyweights formalized their entry during a high-profile visit to the Abuja residence of the NDC National Leader, Sen. Seriake Dickson.
Upon their arrival at approximately 5:14 p.m., they entered a closed-door session with Dickson and other key party stakeholders.
The meeting later went into a closed-door session and ended at about 6:45 p.m.
Following the high-stakes consultation, both leaders issued calls for unity and strategic growth within their new political home.
Kwankwaso reached out to his vast network of political associates and supporters, urging them to collapse their structures into the NDC.
He emphasized the need for a broad, inclusive coalition to strengthen the party’s national reach.
On his part, Obi focused on party stability, reportedly advising members to prioritize internal conflict resolution over legal battles.
He stressed that avoiding protracted litigation is essential to maintaining the party’s focus and integrity.
Persecondnews reports that the arrival of these two heavyweights is widely viewed as a transformative boost for the NDC.
