Detectives in Kano have launched a murder investigation to identify the unknown assailants who stormed the home of outspoken political commentator Ibrahim Khalil, popularly known as “Dan Shagamu International,” and shot him dead.
The assassination of the prominent social media commentator has thrown his family into deep grief and sparked widespread outrage across the region.
“He was brutally slaughtered after being overpowered by his killers,” Amnesty International Nigeria said, in confirming the death.
According to the international organisation, the body of Dan Shagamu was discovered in a pool of blood inside his home.

While official details surrounding the motives and circumstances remain sparse, unconfirmed social media reports suggest the popular commentator suffered a particularly gruesome death, with accounts indicating his throat was slit during the home invasion.
“As the elections approach, we continue to receive disturbing reports of politically related threats to life and intimidation,” Amnesty International said.
