I promised God Late Ogogo ‘II Be Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if Elected, says Yayi

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Adeola Yayi, has revealed that he promised God he would appoint late veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if elected governor in 2027.

Yayi made the disclosure during a visit to Ogogo’s family in Ilaro, Ogun State, following the actor’s death.

In a video made available to Per Second News by his media team on Tuesday, Yayi, who visited the late actor’s house upon his return to the country after his vacation, spoke about his relationship with Ogogo and the role he had planned for him.

According to Yayi, Ogogo was more than a supporter to him, describing the late actor as a brother and someone who passionately believed in his ambition to become governor of Ogun State.

“Ogogo was not just a supporter. He was my brother. He believed so much in my ambition and carried my burden passionately,” Yayi said.

He said Ogogo was deeply committed to the aspiration of having a Yewa indigene occupy the governorship seat and worked actively to mobilise support for his campaign.

“Ogogo was the one who championed the Governor Boys. He was so passionate about the whole thing and he believed that one of us must become governor,” he said.

Yayi then revealed the position he had planned for the late actor in his administration, saying, “I promised God that if I become governor, I will make Ogogo my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism.”

He added that the proposed appointment would have been with cabinet rank, stressing that Ogogo’s knowledge and contribution to Yoruba culture made him suitable for the role.

“I was going to make him Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, with cabinet rank. He understands our culture and he has done a lot for the promotion of our heritage,” Yayi said.

Yayi also disclosed that he had made efforts to get Ogogo medical treatment abroad, including plans to take him to India, but the actor became too weak to travel.

He described Ogogo’s death as a major loss and promised to immortalise the late actor if elected governor, while also pledging continued support for his family.
