US immigration officials have revealed plans to deport Nigerian national Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, who has been accused of overstaying a student visa he obtained in 2007 and compiling an extensive criminal record that encompasses rape, kidnapping and other serious crimes. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency disclosed the development in a post on its X account late on Monday, June 22, 2026.

It outlined how Ajayi entered the United States on a student visa, abandoned his studies, and remained in the country illegally while building up a criminal history. In the statement, ICE wrote: “Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, of Nigeria, entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa and eventually left school, but failed to leave the country. Instead, he stayed in the U.S. and got to work on a lengthy rap sheet that includes convictions such as: Domestic violence, Trespassing, Intimidation, and Obstruction.”His criminal history also includes these egregious charges:

Kidnapping, Rape, and Family neglect. Thanks to POTUS’ commitment to getting criminal illegal aliens out of this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly.”The agency presented the deportation as part of the administration’s wider drive to remove undocumented immigrants with criminal backgrounds, labelling Ajayi a “criminal illegal alien.”ICE alleged that Ajayi had been linked to several criminal matters involving rape, kidnapping, domestic violence and intimidation.

The agency, however, did not name the locations where the offences took place or provide updates on the current status of the rape and kidnapping allegations.

Ajayi’s case forms part of intensified immigration enforcement operations currently taking place across the United States, which target non-citizens who have criminal histories.
