Driven by Sporting Supreme Youth FC’s N-Youth League title victory in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, the FCT Football Association has been recognized as Nigeria’s premier FA for youth development.

Tournament organizers commended the FCT FA for its robust support of the nationwide competition, which featured regional champions from across the country.

Key factors behind the accolade included the FA’s facilitation of eight territory teams and the provision of high-quality match facilities in Abuja.

Most of those FCT-zone fixtures took place at the Bwari and Area 3 pitches.

Reacting to the news, FCT Football Association Chairman Adam M. Mohammed expressed his delight at the prestigious recognition.

“I am very excited about this award. We have worked hard to be where we are today. We have consistently supported teams and made efforts to maintain and improve existing football infrastructure to aid training and the hosting of competitions.

“Facilities in Bwari and Area 3 hosted most of the N-Youth League matches, and this reflects our commitment to prioritizing youth development, as they are the future of football in the FCT and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

The chairman further congratulated Sporting Supreme Youth FC on their well-earned victory while urging them to keep flying the FCT flag high.

He also applauded all the other FCT youth teams that took part in the league.

“I commend the management of Sporting Supreme Youth FC and congratulate the players for their outstanding performance throughout the competition. This victory is well deserved.

“I also celebrate every other FCT youth teams that participated in the league. It was not an easy journey, but you all gave your best, and I am proud of your efforts. The FCT FA will continue to support youth teams in every possible way,” he added.

The N-Youth League is a specialised developmental tournament aimed at grooming young football talents nationwide.

It offers age-grade players a competitive platform to hone their skills, gain valuable experience, and unlock pathways for advancement via grassroots football programmes.

Launched around 2023–2024 and endorsed by the National Sports Commission, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), NPFL, and the FCT FA,  targets teenagers and young adults (primarily ages 16–19, with U19, U17, U15, U13, and U11 categories in various editions).

Its structure — zonal conferences feeding into a high-stakes Super 8 National Championship (grand finale) — creates a clear progression pathway.
