President Bola Tinubu has issued a commendation to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), applauding its operatives for their strategic breakthrough in dismantling an international drug syndicate and a high-value narcotics manufacturing network in Nigeria.

Reacting to the massive operation carried out by the agency, President Tinubu on his official X handle on Thursday, said the seizure of illicit drugs and chemicals, alongside the arrest of foreign and local collaborators, demonstrated the government’s resolve against organised criminal networks.

“The seizure of illicit drugs and chemicals valued at over $360 million, alongside the arrest of key foreign and local collaborators, sends a clear message that Nigeria will not yield its future to criminal networks and narco traffickers,” the President said.

Tinubu also warned that the growing role of West Africa in the global narcotics trade poses a serious threat to national security and the future of young people across the region.

“West Africa is increasingly becoming a major corridor in the global narcotics trade, and this poses a direct threat not just to our security, but to the future of our young people. We must confront this danger with courage, coordination, and consistency,” he added.

The President urged Nigerians to support law enforcement agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities within their communities.

He further praised the gallant officers of the NDLEA for what he described as professionalism, bravery and resilience in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.

“The fight against illicit drugs is a fight for the soul, safety, and future of our nation.”
