Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP’s Interim National Working Committee, has come out in defense of the party’s recent internal moves, maintaining that every action is firmly rooted in law and established protocol.
During an interview on Channels TV programme, “Politics Today” monitored by Persecondnews on Monday, Ememobong clarified that the current friction was sparked by officials who continued to act despite being under an earlier suspension.

“The Court of Appeal had held that there was evidence that certain officials were suspended and no evidence that they were recalled, and to that extent they could not have acted or purported to act in the way they did,” he noted.

The PDP spokesperson emphasized that any decisions made during a period of suspension are legally void and cannot be upheld.

According to Ememobong, this situation created a leadership vacuum that necessitated an intervention from the party’s recognized governing bodies, specifically the National Executive Committee (NEC).
He further contended that the actions of acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and his associates only deepened the crisis, asserting that their moves bypassed established due process.

He maintained that despite the internal tensions, steps had been taken to stabilise its structure and ensure it remains functional ahead of upcoming political activities.
