Civil society groups and concerned citizens are currently protesting at the National Assembly in Abuja, sparked by the Senate’s refusal to mandate the electronic transmission of election results.

The protesters are calling for an immediate review of the Amendment Bill, asserting that transparency must be prioritized to ensure credible elections.

Persecondnews reports that the atmosphere remains peaceful as a heavy security presence blankets the National Assembly.

A joint task force comprising the Nigeria Police, the Army, and the NSCDC has been stationed at strategic entry points to ensure the demonstration stays orderly and to prevent any escalation.
