The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 has rewritten history by becoming the highest-scoring edition, with an impressive 120 goals scored ahead of Sunday’s final.

This remarkable tally surpasses the previous record of 119 goals set at the 2023 tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, showcasing the competition’s attacking prowess and growing continental confidence.

Africa’s traditional powerhouses, including Senegal, Nigeria, Morocco, and Côte d’Ivoire, have driven the scoring surge, displaying depth, pace, and attacking variety throughout the tournament.

Emerging stars have also made their mark, contributing decisively and reinforcing the continent’s expanding talent pool.

Morocco’s Brahim Díaz leads the scoring chart with five goals, followed closely by Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who have each scored four goals.

With the third-place playoff and final still to be played, the Golden Boot race remains wide open.

The expanded 24-team format has produced competitive and goal-rich fixtures, with thrilling comebacks, late winners, and end-to-end contests sustaining excitement throughout the tournament.

Morocco’s vibrant stadiums have provided an energetic backdrop to the goal rush, reflecting a continent-wide evolution in African football.
