President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s security chiefs to step up efforts to combat insecurity across the country.

The president gave the order when he met with top security officials, including Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Wahidi, Maj.-Gen. Shaibu, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, among others, at the Aso Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

The closed-door meeting, which lasted over an hour, focused on achieving better and faster results in tackling banditry, terrorism, and other security challenges.

Oluyede described the session as “very engaging,” with Tinubu issuing fresh directives to strengthen ongoing operations.

The security chiefs assured Nigerians that they are coordinating better to ensure a peaceful yuletide celebration.

This development comes as Nigeria faces persistent violence from Islamist insurgents, armed bandits, and communal clashes.

Tinubu’s directive is part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and enhance military efficiency.

The president has also approved the recruitment of 20,000 additional police officers and 20,000-25,000 soldiers’ recruitment to tackle insecurity.
