The publisher of EAGLE ONLINE, Oladipo Oladotun Sampson, is dead.

Dotun as he was fondly called, reportedly died of cardiac arrest at 56 in Abuja on Tuesday night, August 25, 2026.

Oladipo Oladotun Samson Dotun to everyone who knew him died suddenly of cardiac arrest at 56.

Confirming his demise, Sufuyan Ojeifo, publisher of TheConclaveng, said: “I still find it difficult to come to terms with it. The news came in like a stone through glass.

“Danlami Nmodu, mni, President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, dropped it on the Exco platform. I called for clarity. I dialed. I redialed. My hands would not obey me.

“When Mr. Gabriel Akinadewo, publisher of Freedom Online, finally answered, his voice was the confirmation I did not want: “It is true. I am in Dotun’s house. I just returned from the hospital with his wife. He suffered cardiac arrest.”

Dotun celebrated his 56th birthday on December 19, 2025. He was full of life, full of plans, full of fire. As publisher and editor of THE EAGLE ONLINE, he built more than a website. He built a newsroom with conscience.

But his real monument was GOCOP. He served as President. After his two terms, he remained “Emeritus President” in title and in spirit  because Dotun never retired from responsibility.
