Comedian and actress Real Warri Pikin has announced the cancellation of her planned Warri show, citing what she described as “unfortunate divisions” arising from tribal and political sentiments in Delta State.
The entertainer made the announcement on her official Instagram account obtained by Persecondnews, expressing disappointment that divisions had emerged in a situation where she believed there should be unity.
“It is deeply disappointing that, at this stage in our society, we are still confronted with division where there should be unity,” she said.
Real Warri Pikin said the show, which was scheduled to hold in Warri in the coming weeks, had been cancelled because of circumstances arising from the divisions.
“It is therefore with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my Warri show, which was scheduled to take place in a few weeks, due to circumstances arising from the unfortunate divisions currently at play,” she said.
However, she stressed that the decision would not change how she sees herself or the reach of her brand, insisting that the Real Warri Pikin brand goes beyond her place of birth.
“But I need to make something very clear. The Real Warri Pikin brand is bigger than where I was born,” she said.
The comedian said she refused to be defined by her local government, her parents’ backgrounds or geographical boundaries.
“I am not limited by my local government. I am not defined only by where my father comes from or where my mother comes from.
“I represent every local government in Delta State. I represent Delta State. I represent Nigeria. I represent Africa. And as a woman, I represent women across tribes, races and borders,” she said.
Real Warri Pikin added that she would not allow her calling to be reduced to “geography, tribe or politics”, saying she remained committed to contributing positively to her state, country and continent.
“There are no limitations to what God has called me to do on this earth, and I will not allow anyone to reduce that calling to geography, tribe or politics,” she said.
She also thanked those who supported her during the controversy, including those who reached out, offered advice and encouraged her.
“To everyone who has stood by me, made calls, offered counsel, encouraged me and comforted me through this period, thank you. I do not take your support for granted,” she said.
While expressing disappointment over the circumstances surrounding the cancellation, the entertainer said she held no bitterness towards those whose actions contributed to the situation.
“My prayer is simply that God gives us all the wisdom to understand that we achieve far more when we build together than when we divide ourselves,” she said.
Real Warri Pikin maintained that although the show would no longer hold, her broader vision remained unchanged.
“The show may be cancelled, but the vision is not.
“I am Real Warri Pikin. I am proudly Delta. I am proudly Nigerian. And I will continue to do what God has called me to do,” she added.
