Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda has weighed in on the realities of modern relationships, explaining that it is possible for people to genuinely love each other and still fall out of love over time.

The actress shared her perspective while responding to a colleague who asked whether someone could stop loving a person they once loved deeply.

Her response quickly resonated with many followers, as she offered a candid explanation of how relationships can evolve.

According to Chinda, love is not a static emotion and should not be judged solely by whether a relationship lasts forever.

“Yes babes, you can genuinely love someone and fall out because human emotions are not fixed.

“The fact that love changes does not automatically invalidate what was felt before. A relationship can be meaningful and real, even if it does not last forever,” she wrote.

Expanding on her point, the actress said there are several reasons why feelings can change, even when a relationship once appeared strong and deeply connected.

“There are a few reasons. Unresolved conflicts or resentment, loss of emotional intimacy due to stress and burnout, changes in values, goals or priorities, neglect of the relationship over time, or simply discovering that the romantic bond no longer feels the same,” she explained.

Chinda emphasised that the fading of romantic feelings should not be interpreted as proof that the relationship was built on false emotions.

“The fact that love changes does not mean what was shared wasn’t genuine. People grow, circumstances change, and sometimes relationships evolve in ways we never expected,” she noted.

She further suggested that while romance may fade, other aspects of a relationship can remain intact.

“Understanding endures more. Sometimes respect, friendship, shared memories and mutual understanding can survive even when the romantic connection changes,” she added.

Her remarks have since generated conversations online, with many social media users agreeing that relationships require constant nurturing and emotional investment to remain strong.
