Ogun State’s agricultural sector is getting a major boost with a new $250 million dairy investment.

Pure Dairy Herds, a specialized cattle and milk production company, has announced plans to establish one of Nigeria’s largest dairy farms within the state.

The announcement was made by company representative Mr. Farouk Gumel on Tuesday, following a meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun in Abeokuta.

Gumel explained that the firm is collaborating with international experts to build a world-class facility.

The project aims to significantly increase local milk production and strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.

He revealed that the company has already completed the acquisition of land for the project in Ogun West Senatorial District, paving the way for the commencement of development activities.

According to him, the choice of Ogun State was informed by its investor-friendly policies, conducive business environment, and ongoing infrastructure development, particularly in Ogun West.

He commended the host communities for their warm reception and cooperation, describing the location as ideal for large-scale dairy farming.

“Ogun is the best. We already have a few operations in Ogun State, and this project is a testament to how well we have been received and treated,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have Ogun State as our host, and we are particularly excited about moving into Ogun West, which holds great promise, especially with the critical infrastructure projects taking place in the area.

“For now, we are looking at an initial investment of $250 million, but as we continue to expand, that figure is expected to increase.”

Gumel further disclosed that preparations are underway for the groundbreaking ceremony of the dairy farm, which is expected to take place within the next two to three weeks.
