Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will leave the club at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to one of the most successful eras in English football.
The club confirmed the news on Friday, with the Spaniard’s final match set to be at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday against Aston Villa in the Premier League’s closing fixture.

The announcement comes just days after City handed the title to Arsenal following a frustrating draw with Bournemouth, ending their bid for a fifth consecutive crown.

The 55-year-old leaves after a decade in charge during which he delivered 20 major trophies and transformed the club into a domestic and European powerhouse.

Guardiola had been locked in a tense title race with former assistant Mikel Arteta and Arsenal right until the final stretch, but ultimately fell short of adding another Premier League trophy to his collection.

Guardiola’s remarkable haul includes six Premier League titles, four of them won back-to-back-to-back-to-back in an unprecedented run of dominance.

He also guided the club to its first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023, completing a historic treble that season alongside the Premier League and FA Cup.

In domestic cups, he secured five Carabao Cups — including the last three — and claimed three FA Cups, the most recent coming with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley last week.

In an impressive unbeaten run through both domestic cup competitions this season, City lifted the Carabao Cup and FA Cup without suffering a single defeat.

Guardiola’s departure brings the curtain down on a trophy-laden spell that saw him win the club’s elusive Champions League crown and cement his status as one of the greatest managers in modern football.
