President Donald Trump of America has announced that a joint operation involving United States forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria has killed a senior Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) commander, Abu-Bilal al-Minuki.

Trump made the statement on Friday, saying the operation was carried out under his direction and described it as a highly coordinated and complex mission.

“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield,” he said.

He identified the target as Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, whom he described as the second-in-command of ISIS globally.

“Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing,” Trump stated.

He said the operation had significantly weakened the group’s global network.

“He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans. With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished,” he added.

Trump also thanked the Nigerian government for its cooperation in the operation.

Persecondnews recalls that the US Government had previously designated Nigeria as a a “country of particular concern”, for failing to protect Christians.
