Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has officially accepted the mantle as the APC’s unified choice for the 2027 Ogun governorship.
During a formal presentation to Ogun West stakeholders in Ilaro by Gov. Dapo Abiodun, Adeola reaffirmed his readiness for the contest while paying tribute to the “political architects” behind the consensus—specifically thanking President Tinubu, Gov. Abiodun, and Chief Segun Osoba for their pivotal support.
“I am deeply grateful for the honour of emerging as the consensus candidate of our great party. I do not take this privilege for granted, and I pledge to build on and consolidate the milestone achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun if elected in 2027,” he said.
Presenting Adeola to the stakeholders following an overwhelming affirmation by over 1,000 party leaders and members, Abiodun expressed satisfaction that Ogun State had achieved peacefully what many states across the federation were still struggling to accomplish — the emergence of a consensus candidate from Ogun West.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night by High Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, the governor noted that Ogun West had consistently supported him electorally, particularly during the 2023 governorship election.
“We in Ogun State have set the pace for others by unanimously agreeing on Senator Adeola as our consensus candidate for 2027. I am delighted that all of you have reaffirmed this position,” Governor Abiodun stated.
Stakeholders at the meeting included members of the APC State Working Committee from Ogun West; APC Local Government and Ward Chairmen and their executives; Local Government Chairmen and councillors from Ogun West; elected state and federal legislators; former elected lawmakers from the district; and party elders.
Dignitaries at the event included APC State Chairman, Alhaji Yemi Sanusi; Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele;former Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salmot Badru; Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Kunle Salako; Senator Iyabo Anisulowo; Senator Akin Odunsi; Senator Gbolahan Dada; Rep.
