The “Obidient Movement” has dismissed reports suggesting the emergence of parallel leadership structures within its ranks, warning that attempts to misrepresent its identity and create confusion among supporters will not be tolerated.

In a statement responding to recent events, National Coordinator Dr. Yunusa Tanko clarified the movement’s position.

Persecondnews recalls that a factional group headed by Dr. Barry Ovotu had made claims questioning the ownership and direction of the Obidient Movement, including assertions regarding its association with its principal, Peter Obi and changing the name of the movement to “OBEDIENT”.

According to Tanko, the movement rejects any attempts by outside groups to create a false leadership narrative through unauthorized structures.

He reaffirmed that the “OBIDIENT” Movement operates under a single, official framework, recognizing no factions or alternative hierarchies.

“There is no parallel structure within the Obidient Movement. Any attempt to misrepresent our identity or create confusion among supporters is unacceptable, he warned.”

Tanko cautioned members of the public, media organisations, supporters across Nigeria and the diaspora, and all stakeholders to disregard any group operating under derivative or deceptively similar identities, insisting that such groups do not represent the movement or its values.

“The movement remains united and guided by integrity, accountability, justice, and the vision of a New Nigeria. Only official communication channels should be relied upon,” he stated.

Tanko insisted that the movement remains focused and will not allow its rising influence to be exploited or its mission derailed by deceptive tactics.
