Following a two-week operation targeting drug networks in the nation’s capital, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested 132 suspects and recovered 220 kilograms of illicit substances across multiple locations in Abuja.
Persecondnews reports that the enforcement action, carried out between April 11 and 25, 2026, involved operatives of the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) alongside the FCT Strategic Command, following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on identified drug hotspots.
This is contained in a statement by the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.
He said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to curb both the supply and demand of illicit drugs nationwide.
Areas affected include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis, where several drug joints and bunk sites were dismantled.
214.79kg of skunk, a strain of cannabis; 5.524kg of Diazepam; 2.352kg of Exol; 1.119kg of Tramadol; 145.8g of Mogadon; 93.52g of cocaine; 84.3g of Rohypnol; 10.9g of methamphetamine; 3.17g of ecstasy; and six bottles of codeine syrup items were recovered.
The agency said its operatives met resistance in parts of Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis but overpowered the suspects, with no casualties recorded.
Presenting the outcome of the special operation to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, retirement Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa the agency’s Director of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI), DCGN Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the resilience, coordination and professionalism of the officers involved.
He also called for sustained operational pressure to consolidate the gains achieved during the exercise.
